The Rehoboth Art League is one of a few active art collecting organizations in Delaware.  The collection currently contains over 900 items and includes many historical works by prominent Delaware ‘Heritage’ artists who were instrumental in the formation of the league in 1938. This includes works by Ethel P.B. Leach, Ethel Poyntell Canby Peets, Jack Lewis, Howard Pyle, Bertha N. Riley, Olive Rush, and Virginia Yardley, to name a few. The collection is secured in a museum standard, climate controlled location on the league’s campus. The Collections Committee, a standing committee of the Board of Trustees, oversees all aspects of the collection.

The growth and safely of the works in the collection are reliant upon the generosity and support of our patrons. Additions to the collection (with rare exception) are solely acquired from generous donations by supporters of the league. The Collections Committee reviews each work for consideration into the collection. The decision to accept a work into the collection is based upon several factors including; the status of the artist, the artist’s connection to the league, the quality of the work, and how the work would add to the collection. Works recommended for accession into the collection by the Collections Committee are then presented to the Board of Trustees for final approval.

The works in this exhibition are the most recent additions to the collection. Their donors,  Gerhard C. Depken, Sam Profeta, and the Estate of Dick Poole, Esq., are all longtime supporters of the Rehoboth Art League.

If you are considering donating a work into the collection, or have any collection related questions, Contact Jay Pastore, Artistic Director of the Rehoboth Art League.
