Verses of Hope: Poetry Fundraiser for the Food Bank of DE
Through poetic words of hope, the Food Bank of Delaware can provide nourishing food for mothers, infants, and children.
Can you imagine choosing between groceries or medicine?
Skipping a meal so your children can eat?
This is the reality for thousands of Delawareans.
For two decades, the Food Bank of Delaware has been a quiet force of transformation—teaching families not just how to feed themselves, but how to nourish their lives. Through federally funded programs like SNAP-Ed and WIC, our Community Nutrition Educators have empowered thousands of Delawareans with the knowledge to stretch their food budgets, cook wholesome meals, embrace active lifestyles; and supported the health of pregnant/postpartum women, infants, and children during critical stages of growth. But now, with federal funding cuts to SNAP-Ed and our WIC team working without reimbursable pay because of the government shutdown, we face an urgent need: to keep these life-changing programs alive for the over 134,000 food insecure neighbors who rely on them. Including almost 38,000 children.
Join us for an evening where poetry meets purpose. This fundraiser celebrates the beauty of words and the power of food—raising funds to continue our Healthy Eating and Lifestyle initiatives, which foster healthy eating habits and improved quality of life for seniors, parents, children, and caregivers across the state. We offer trauma-informed cooking classes, pantry makeovers using the Supporting Wellness at Pantries (SWAP) system, and WIC Food Package benefits, all rooted in compassion, community, and empowerment. Your support helps us keep the rhythm of nourishment flowing, even when the music of funding fades.
Let your love of poetry become a lifeline. Every ticket, every donation, every stanza shared helps us write a new verse in the story of food and nutrition security. Together, we can ensure that the most vulnerable among us continue to receive the tools, education, and support they need to choose—and celebrate—healthy living.
Your generous donation will enable the Food Bank to purchase and provide nutritious food for families facing food insecurity. In fact, for every $1 donated, we can provide THREE meals to Delawareans in need!
Suggested donation: $15 for each attendee
We encourage you to consider contributing more. Your generosity increases the amount of food provided to women, infants, and children in need within Delaware.
Thank you for being a part of helping to feed neighbors in need!
