Oil and Water Art Exhibition

Opening Reception: December 6, 2:00-4:00 p.m.

Make plans now to drop by CAMP Rehoboth in December to view Oil & Water, an exhibit featuring the work of two local artists, Renata Price and Kathleen Fitzgerald. Price paints primarily in oil. Her work, inspired by a variety of sources, is very detail-oriented and continues to evolve in style and subject matter while remaining true to realism. Fitzgerald’s primary medium is water-color, though she also enjoys drawing pen and ink illustrations and cartoons. Fitzgerald finds inspiration in the beauty of nature all around her.

Artist Bios

Kathleen Fitzgerald is a lifelong artist whose primary medium is watercolor, but she also enjoys drawing pen and ink illustrations and cartoons. Kathleen’s career included stints in journalism, advertising and the law. She was an award-winning editorial cartoonist for the Provincetown Banner newspaper from 2008-2015 while she and her wife owned and operated a bed and breakfast in Provincetown. Now retired in Milton, Delaware, Kathleen has been able to devote more time to art and has found inspiration in the beauty of nature all around her. She loves to find “happy accidents” with the interplay of water and paint on paper. Watercolor painting is endlessly challenging, but provides opportunities for unique effects — the contrast of light and shadow, flowing wet washes, dry brush sweeps, the layering of translucent hues and rich, vibrant color. Since moving to southern Delaware ten years ago, Kathleen has enjoyed showing her art with the Milton Arts Guild, the Delaware Shore Artists, and at the annual St. Peter’s Art Show in Lewes. She also finds joy in creating commissioned pieces in a variety of styles and subjects. For more information or to contact Kathleen, go to www.kfitzart.com or email her at fitzgeraldk14@comcast.net or call her at (508) 246-0945.

RENATA PRICE is primarily a painter in oil. Her work is very detail oriented, reflecting her background as an engineer. She is fascinated by complex shadows and reflections which are often a central characteristic of her work. Renata particularly enjoys employing “Old Masters” techniques involving underpainting and glazing to achieve this effect. Art has been a lifelong passion as she was raised in a home adorned with the works of her artist mother and grandmother. Renata draws inspiration from a variety of sources and does not turn away from any interesting subject. She has received instruction at the Art League of Alexandria, the Rehoboth Art League, and various workshops. Her philosophy is that art needs to reflect one’s current thoughts and interests. Her art continues to evolve in style and subject matter while remaining true to realism.
