About DelawareScene.com

DelawareScene.com is a comprehensive, up-to-date website calendar featuring Delaware's arts and cultural events and attractions.

Who produces DelawareScene.com?

DelawareScene.com is produced by the Delaware Division of the Arts, an agency of Delaware's Department of State. The Division administers grants and programs that support arts programming, educate the public, increase awareness of the arts, and integrate the arts into all facets of Delaware life. Funding for Division programs is provided by annual appropriations from the Delaware General Assembly, and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency that believes "a great nation deserves great art."

Who is eligible to have events included in the calendar?

Organizations that produce and/or present art and cultural events in Delaware (and immediately surrounding areas) that are open to the general public are eligible to submit their events. For an event to be approved, it must be held at a venue or attraction that is registered with DelawareScene.com. If the venue or attraction is not yet registered with our site as an organization, we encourage you to have that venue and/or attraction create an organizational profile so that your event may be included in the calendar. In all cases, submitted events, venues and attractions will go through an approval process prior to "going live."

Please be sure to review the categories to make sure that your art or cultural event fits one of the general content categories or subcategories on the calendar: Attractions; Dance; Festivals & Special Events; Film; Lectures & Workshops; Literature & Poetry; Music; Theater & Performance; Visual Arts (Art Centers, Art, Antiques & Craft shows; Art Tours; Exhibitions; Galleries; Museums). If your event doesn't fit neatly into one of those categories or subcategories, it's less likely that it will be approved for inclusion in the calendar. A full list of the categories and subcategories is on the event submission form.

We can tell you up front that the following types of events will not be approved: adult entertainment, including gaming; events whose sole purpose is to promote religion or religious philosophy; and events that are political in nature. Venues and attractions can also be rejected at our discretion. The Division of the Arts retains the right to approve or reject any calendar submissions.

How can I submit my events?

Simply click on the submit an event link at the bottom of the page and proceed through the steps. Remember, all events must be open to the public.

All submissions will be reviewed and, if accepted, posted within 5 to 7 business days. DelawareScene.com reserves the right to edit submissions for grammar, style, accuracy and content. We may also reject any events not suitable for the site. Every event must be submitted at least 14 days prior to its start date. Please be sure to check whether your event is already listed before submitting it. DelawareScene.com reserves the right to revise, reject or cancel, in whole or in part, any events, venues or attractions for any reason in its sole discretion.

Can I change my event information once it is posted?

Yes. You can click "Update This Event" on the event page in question, complete the form, and we will make the changes you request. The deadline for requesting changes is seven days prior to the date of the event. In the case of cancellation, or major changes to an event, please contact Roxanne Stanulis at 302.577.8283 immediately.

Who will see this calendar?

DelawareScene.com is open to the public and is being marketed to consumers throughout Delaware as the single best place to turn for arts and cultural entertainment information.
