Charlese Phillips
Charlese is a professional artist able to provide multiple creative services. She accepts commissions for painted portraits, murals, weavings, macrame, photography and more. She received her BFA from Salisbury University in Maryland and has a Masters in Elementary Education Studies from Wilmington University. She resides in Kent County and is currently a high school digital photography teacher. Over the years her chosen art medium has gone from materials such as paint, to ceramics, photography, and now to fiber art. She began experimenting with macrame during the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic to relieve stress and through that exploration she found weaving. She fell in love with weaving and found joy in searching for or creating new fibers to add to her work which has brought her to this current state of her artistic journey. As an artist, Charlese uses her art to explore her deeper self in her personal work. The idea of combining paintings and weavings together came to her one day and she developed a process to bring her idea to life using her various creative skills obtained through her art education and other self-taught techniques. The individuals she selects for her works are those who have inspired her in some way and who have made positive impacts in the world. Charlese believes there is a greatness that exists within us all and she hopes her art inspires others to face their internal struggles and allow their true self to shine.
