Cynelsa E. Broderick
I was raised in Dover, Delaware and though I always had an affinity for the arts growing up, it was not until I became a resident of Durham, North Carolina in 2011 that the idea of being a Visual Artist for a living even became a thought. I am now a painter, illustrator, and letterer as well as an overall arts (theater, literature, music, dance, visual and installation... you name it) lover.
In my work, I typically use acrylics as my main medium. Additionally, I explore with digital art-making, as well as the traditional pen and pencil, ink, chalk, and oil paint; and I love to paint with watercolors. The arts have the power to bring people together as well as help with individualistic expression, and that range is something I enjoy. My hope is to continue to learn and grow my skills as an artist, network and support other artists. Classes and workshops I've offered in the past include:
- Art & Nature- tailored for any age groups, these outdoor sessions focus on exploration and journaling our observations
- Handlettering 101- an introduction to handlettering
- Holiday Handlettering 101- a fun twist on my intro to handlettering that allows participants to create a custom ornament by the end of our session
- Paint & Sips- have a good time enjoying your favorite beverage and creating a painted piece of artwork with me
- Virtual Handlettering- a three-part online one on one in session to learn handlettering

Creative Aging
I attended Lifetime Arts' Creative Aging Foundations Training through the Delaware Division of the Arts in January 2024, and I am equipped to help enrich the lives of older Delawareans through the classes and workshops that I teach. Any past offerings can be customized to reach a specific group of participants. Thank you for your consideration!
