David Christopher, Organist, is available as recitalist or accompanist.  Solo programs may include the following: Traditional Classical Repertoire, Works for Children, Works based on Negro Spirituals and Gregorian Chant, Orchestral Transcriptions. Programs may also include chamber music with organ, oratorio accompaniment and instrumental works with orchestral accompaniment transribed for organ.

David began his early organ studies with John Holland at  St. Peter’s Episcopal Church  in Salisbury, MD.   He gave his first organ recital at the age of 14 and was appointed organist and choirmaster at  St. Peter’s in the Great Valley  (Paoli, PA) at the age of 17.  Soon afterwards, David became a frequent performer at Longwood Gardens following Clarence Snyder’s retirement as resident organist.  David has studied with some notable organ teachers including  Robert Elmore,  Harry Wilkinson,  Alan Morrison  and more recently  Donald Sutherland  at the Peabody Conservatory of Music.

David has served as the Organist and Director of Music at The Episcopal Church of Saints Andrew and Matthew (SsAM) since April of 2001. During that time, he has developed a rich, multi-cultural musical and liturgical program based in the Anglican tradition, yet incorporating a wide range of musical styles including chant, spirituals, jazz, gospel and world music. As a liturgical organist, David’s unique style of improvisation and service playing has served as the “glue" which holds together a liturgy embracing the music of many styles, cultures and faith traditions.
