Elizabeth Collard is an award-winning artist whose works have been selected for entry into numerous juried fine arts and fine handcraft arts shows.    Collard is a juried signature member of the Delaware Watercolor Society, Baltimore Watercolor Society, and Potomac Valley Watercolorists.   She is past president of the Delaware Watercolor Society, and also a member of the Rehoboth Art League, The Art League of Ocean City, and The Guild of Silk Painters (U.K.)

She works primarily in watercolor, concentrating on compositions, which have floral themes, choosing to capture nature's beauty and bring it indoors through her paintings.   She paints deep, vibrant colors while maintaining the natural transparency of the watercolor medium.   Her artworks are beautiful, realistic renderings in which she is able to bring out the fine detail of the subject matter.  Collard works in two distinctly different formats.   Depending on how the spirit moves her, she either paints using staged still life settings which she composes from favorite objects, or she creates a still life tableau totally in her mind’s eye and then paints very detailed settings from her imagination. In addition to working in watercolor, she also creates original paintings on silk, and on wood surfaces.     Along with her large watercolor paintings, she creates original watercolor jewelry, silk wearing apparel, "Garden Fence" wall hangings, wall murals, floor cloths and painted furniture.    Collard enjoys the challenge of commissions where she has to see clearly and create someone else's vision.

She has been teaching watercolor classes at the beginning, intermediate and advanced levels since 1998 and silk painting classes and workshops since 2002.   Her absolute conviction that watercolor, silk painting or any type of painting is a skill to be learned and not one that you are necessarily born with is at the root of her teaching.     She encourages everyone with an interest to give it a try.   She believes wholeheartedly that you get out of watercolor painting what you put into it.   Her efforts haven’t gone un-rewarded.     She operates her own company, Fleur-de-Lis Studio and is very happy with the frequent sales of her original art.   Her works are included in numerous private collections through out the United States and Europe.   Several Fine Arts and specialty shops in Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia, Florida and Brussels, Belgium have carried her work.
