Catherine Samardza and Itinerant Dance Theater

Itinerant Dance Theater, formed in 1993, has performed throughout Delaware and Maryland, as well as Washington, DC, Philadelphia, PA and New York City. The company motto is "Have costumes, will travel!"  and will perform  in libraries, church halls, theaters, outdoors or indoors.   Company members are adults, with many years of performing experience in dance and theater.   IDT performances mixi  dance, music and  theater - and audience participation! - for  family-friendly comedy shows,

CATHERINE SAMARDZA, IDT’s director, is a Delaware-trained dancer who spent 15 years in New York City as a performer, choreographer and teacher before returning to Delaware in 1991.   She is an award-winning choreographer whose work has been performed at Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park and the Queens Museum of Art in NYC, and on the White House Lawn in Washington, DC.

Ms. Samardza and IDT company members  are committed to sharing their  love of dance through  performances, classes or  workshops. In addition to teaching a variety of dance styles in studios,  Ms. Samardza  was a teaching artist for the Delaware Institute for the Arts in Education (DIAE) in both the Lincoln Center and Wolf Trap models (1998-2002).   Recently she participated in the DE Division of the Arts Creative Aging training and is looking forward to teaching in the Creative Aging program.

IDT takes a great deal of pride in the fact that the company’s half-hour signature piece "“ SOMETIMES YOU JUST NEED TO BE SILLY -   has NEVER been performed the same way twice!
