Artist Roster

After growing up in Arden Delaware, Janet Williams studied at The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Later she graduated from The University of Delaware and earned a master’s degree in Interactive Media from Philadelphia University. After working in different aspects of media for many years, she began practicing yoga. Though yoga and being mindful of the present moment, her interest in painting was renewed. She discovered a love of painting outdoors and she found the changing light and all the nuances nature provides a challenge.

While painting, she looks to achieve interesting subject matter, good composition, and appealing color that work harmoniously to deliver a skillful, well-executed painting. As a plein air painter her enjoyment comes from sorting out a cluster of trees, flowers or plants as they capture the light. The changing light ensures spontaneity which can be lost in overworking the details. She often vacillate between getting an accurate rendering and allowing it to be more expressive.
