Karin Snoots'  work is driven by a passion for exploration of color, which she feels has the ability to evoke so many different emotions as well as spatial relationships. Painting provides her with immense joy. She equates it with the birth of a child "“ sometimes the labor of love is easy and the brushes seem to work their own magic.   Yet other times painting is the most intense, most personally challenging thing she could ever imagine doing. In the pursuit of her own artistic growth she pushed out of her comfort zone and experimented. It was through much trial and frustration that a unique style emerged. One that simplifies the natural details for more basic shapes and their inherent color relationships. The newly developed contemporary style was a significant shift from her more traditional rendering.

This new focus has also helped to raise the bar on  Karin's level of quality and technique while serving to better understand the rendering of light on the subject matter. It is her belief that as we achieve anything in our lives, to perfect our performance we must practice. Success is the result of practicing one’s craft and knowing what it is you want, and  then actively pursuing your dreams with determination and self-assurance. Her excitement transfers to the canvas; most gratifying is the opportunity to travel on a unique and creative path.

Karin has formal training as a Commercial Illustrator. The art of painting for her is something so intimately personal she felt compelled to discover the process on her own. She has a deep respect for the power and beauty of the ocean. Her fundamental mission is to serve as a catalyst for environmental awareness and conservation. She often dedicates a portion of the sale of one of her paintings within an exhibit to support the Marine Education Research and Rehabilitation Institute (MERR). MERR Institute, Inc. is authorized by National Marine Fisheries Service and the State of Delaware to be the official stranding respondents for the Marine Mammals and Sea Turtles of Delaware. It is a non-profit stranding response and rehabilitation organization dedicated to the conservation of marine mammals and sea turtles. Karin collaborated with MERR in the design of a Delaware automobile license plate that features themes of conservation and the state's natural beauty. It passed the House and the Senate and was signed into law Aug. 1, 2012 by Gov. Jack Markell. It was approved by both the DMV and  Delaware Law Enforcement, and it is currently available through the DMV. Delaware residents can transfer their current number to the new plate, and the cost is a one-time fee of $50, of which MERR gets $35.

She was chosen by The Delaware Division of the Arts to receive an Individual Artist Fellowship grant in the Established Professional category in 2013 and the Emerging Professional category in 2008. She is a signature member of both the American Society of Marine Artists and Artists for Conservation Foundation. She is also a member of the Ocean Artists Society.
