Susan is a writer, a blogger, and a short story author who lives in the Lewes area, about four miles from her favorite trails in Cape Henlopen State Park. She has been involved in the Rehoboth Beach Writers Guild over the years, and has the unofficial notoriety of being the organization’s first paid member.

She has published lifestyle stories in Delaware Beach Life magazine, and short fiction stories in several Delaware anthologies, as well as in a couple of small literary magazines. Her previous lives were those of a daily newspaper editor and reporter, and a PR person in the industries of chemicals and healthcare. Along the way, she added up a few journalism and marketing awards, and degrees in English (BA), and biomedical writing (MS).

Besides  submitting short stories to a variety of literary magazine, Susan is working on a novel, and a memoir. Yes, at the same time.

Creative Aging

Susan believes that we all have stories, and that we all have the ability to write them down in our own, unique voices.

Susan’s goal through the Creative Aging program is to guide adults in their efforts to write down their own stories. As we age, we often want to make sure that our children and grandchildren know who we are, and what the important moments in our lives have been. As a longtime newspaper reporter and editor, and as someone who wrote patient stories for Beebe Healthcare publications, Susan is experienced at working with others to get their stories told. Her position as a senior, herself, adds to her ability to understand the needs of those who want to give their stories life. Susan also has contacts within the Delaware writing community to help people who want to have their work self-published. No promises on getting anything in the hands of the large publishing houses, however.

Susan is available to work with groups and individuals in Sussex County, either in person or on Zoom.  Contact Susan through her web page susantowers.com
