Tricia Whitmore
"Art is a harmony parallel with nature "- Cezanne
Artist Tricia Whitmore was born in Washington DC and raised in Northern Virginia but now resides in Georgetown, DE. Many weekend excursions along the Delmarva coast created a deep appreciation and love for the beauty and Serenity found in nature.
The joy of being outdoors ignites wonder and results in many printed photographs used as reference guides for sketching and painting. The Artist utilizes these to develop a faint graphite sketch to follow throughout the painting process. For a soft appearance with little texture watercolor paint and 140lb paper are used for the desired result. The Artist prefers acrylic on canvas for subjects with sharp lines, bold colors and texture.
The greatest creative influence in capturing passion in painting nature was the opportunity to study with Delmarva artists Jane Mullenhouser and Willie Crockett. Their style and techniques made a lasting impression and conveyed their love of nature. The Artist Hopes that a little of that inspiration and love of nature is passed on from their teaching and wonderful insights.
