Description

Collage Retreat at Kolaj Institute offers dedicated time and shared studio space for artists to pursue independent projects in community with other artists. The in-person retreat takes place at Kolaj Institute Gallery in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, Monday, 7 December to Friday, 11 December 2026.

Intended for self-motivated artists at any career stage, the retreat is open to any artist over the age of 21 from anywhere in the world. Participants may develop a series of collage artworks, explore New Orleans through art, work on a book or collection of collage poetry, prepare for an exhibition, or review, organize, and document their practice.

Artists have 24-hour access to a shared studio from 10AM Monday to 4PM Friday. Scissors, cutting knives, mats, glue, books, magazines, and paper are provided. Participants may also bring their own supplies and materials.

Following Monday morning’s orientation, artists meet daily to discuss goals and progress. Optional one-on-one curatorial support is available with Kolaj Institute’s director. On Friday afternoon, participants present their accomplishments and discuss how to build on their work after returning to their communities.

The fee is $550 USD per artist, including studio access, shared supplies and materials, daily meetings, and programming. Artists arrange and pay for accommodations, travel, meals, and additional materials. Large format printing is available for an additional fee.

Early Deadline to Apply: Sunday, 1 November 2026.

Final Deadline to Apply: Sunday, 15 November 2026.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until spaces are filled. Artists are encouraged to apply by the early deadline, particularly when arranging travel and accommodations. Apply using the “Submit your application HERE” link on the call page:
