Position Summary: The Development Director is responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating a comprehensive development plan that encompasses major gifts, government giving, earned revenue, corporate and foundation giving, planned giving, and special events. This role will work closely with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors to develop fundraising and marketing goals and strategies, thereby enhancing and supporting the overall mission of the organization.
Responsibilities:
Development:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive development plan to meet the organization’s annual revenue goals.
- Identify and cultivate a diverse portfolio of revenue streams, including major gift prospects, earned revenue, corporate, government, foundation, and individual donors.
- Meet in person regularly with donors and represent Elevate Vocal Arts at funding and community meetings.
- Steward elected officials and those within the executive branch (local, state, and federal).
- Research grant opportunities, draft and edit grant applications and reports, and manage grant deadlines and analysis.
- Plan and execute special events that engage donors and raise funds for the organization.
- Work closely with the Board of Directors and the Executive Director to develop fundraising strategies and achieve goals.
- Monitor and analyze fundraising data to evaluate performance and adjust strategies as needed.
- Facilitate end-of-fiscal-year, end-of-calendar-year, Founder’s Day, Giving Tuesday, Do More 24, and other direct appeal and peer fundraising campaigns.
Communications & Marketing:
- Support and supervise the creation of marketing and social media content and collateral, using software such as Canva and CapCut.
- Collaborate with EVA staff to develop and execute effective donor communications and marketing materials.
- Maintain segmented donor lists for digital and printed communications, and effectively mail merge large lists for digital and printed communications.
- Maintain CRM and digital and printed mailing lists.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of five years of experience in fundraising and nonprofit development, preferably within an arts and culture organization.
- Proven track record of success in reaching and exceeding fundraising goals.
- Experience with fundraising software and donor databases.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write compelling donor communications and marketing materials.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team, including staff, volunteers, and community partners.
- Passion for the mission and values of Elevate Vocal Arts, with a dedication to fostering the growth and development of the vocal arts community.
- A demonstrated personal commitment to upholding the values of access, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Preferred: Experience fundraising in Delaware, and a familiarity with the state’s institutional funders, including corporations and foundations.
Residency Requirement: Greater Wilmington Region
Remote Work: Administrative work will be completed remotely. There will be a need to support programming, performances, and key funder/stakeholder meetings in person in Delaware, the Greater Philadelphia Region, and beyond.
