Description

The ideal candidate will possess the skills to partner with the Board and lead the team as they achieve ambitious organizational goals. With JMFF’s 20th anniversary and the opening of its new space on the horizon, the Executive Director will consider best opportunities for revenue diversification, creative audience engagement, activating physical spaces, and more. Ideally, the candidate will bring experience leading major projects, campaigns, or through other significant change. They will bring an entrepreneurial orientation and a focus on ensuring JMFF’s sustainability and continued impact for decades to come.

They will need a strong focus on operational efficiency and financial stability. As well as, experience managing a physical space or complex operation of another kind. Most importantly, they will have the skillset to oversee a P&L and assets of relevant scale to JMFF. As JMFF continues to grow, its leader will ensure the organization has the internal resources necessary to achieve ambitious goals. They will also bring a strong data orientation and an understanding of how to most effectively measure success.

Comfort with fundraising and/or broader resource development is important for this position. The candidate should have a proven track record of securing support and diversifying revenue streams. Ideally, they will bring experience with capital campaigns, broader fundraising initiatives, and/or significantly growing an institution’s resources in other ways. They will be able to secure significant support from individuals, institutions, and others, and will further foster a culture of philanthropy at JMFF.

The ideal candidate must excel in relationship-building with a wide array of constituents. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are critical, and the Executive Director should posses the ability to serve as a public face and ambassador for JMFF across a variety of settings. Ideally, they

will bring a track record of building strong partnerships, engaging in their community, and elevating their organization’s presence among audiences and other supporters. As an external ambassador for JMFF, they must possess and demonstrate the highest levels of integrity, professionalism, and

passion for JMFF’s work.

The ideal candidate will bring the ability to retain, empower, and recruit an exceptional, diverse team. They will be able to effectively navigate challenges and crises with resilience and maintain the team’s focus and composure while driving organizational success and stability. They will

ensure the team has the appropriate resources and support to accomplish lofty goals. Unafraid to share the spotlight, they will celebrate successes of their team and ensure their important development. Importantly, they will bring self-awareness around their own limitations and how a

strong leadership team can fill in any skill gaps they may have.

The ideal candidate will bring deep passion for the performing arts, arts education & access, and/or other areas of JMFF’s mission. The candidate must possess the curiosity and intellectual horsepower to connect with a wide array of individuals who engage with the organization. They will

bring a commitment to programmatic innovation, refining programmatic strategy, and ensuring that the organization remains a leader in the space.
