Description

PERFORMING ARTS TEACHING ARTIST 

  • CCArts is seeking a performing arts teaching artist to add to our team. A successful teaching artist will be a collaborative self-starter with great communication and classroom management skills and who has a passion for sharing their knowledge of the theatre with students of various ages and skill levels. We are specifically interested in artists who have an interest and experience in working with youth students as well as those with a background in any of the following:

SKILLS AND BACKGROUND FOR SUCCESS

  • You have a BA/BS/BFA in either performing arts, musical theatre, theatre education or prior related experience teaching performing arts to youth and/or adults.
  • Looking for part-time, flexible employment.
  • You are punctual, dependable, and flexible.
  • You have working knowledge of the theatre and a passion for teaching, especially youth students.
  • You have excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with youth students on devised theatre techniques is a plus
  • Experience working with youth students on musical theatre techniques is a plus.
  • You have cultural competency skills and passion for working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • You are highly proficient in a variety of artistic mediums, their processes and equipment and possess the enthusiasm and willingness to share your knowledge with adults or young people.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with students of various ages in workshops and/or weekly art classes both at our location and off-site.
  • Develop creative art activities and lessons that incorporate a variety of instructional methods and techniques.
  • Foster caring and trusting relationships with students providing welcoming and non-discriminatory treatment of all students of all abilities regardless of race, religion, gender identity or sexual orientation. 
  • Manage classroom decorum and maintain health, safety and housekeeping in the workspace.
  • Model through their behavior, CCArts Core Values of acceptance, creative expression and collective success

This role is part-time seasonal, non-exempt, with options to be 100% on site as well as opportunities for off-site programming.  SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION:

  • CCArts operates in 10-week semesters: Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer. Teaching Artists are scheduled on an as needed basis, when classes are available. Base pay rate is $32 per hour with a $4/hr pay increase if class or workshop fills to capacity.
