"Against the Tyranny of Time": Printmaking by Mark Harris
“I am concerned to make art that explores the imbedded social struggles that both makes art necessary and provides the artists with distractions from that exploration. Recent work has concerned the ways we try to remember the more than a million US covid deaths, and how our efforts to resist despair on many fronts is met by the need for hope that is not based in false promises for an easy fix. Printmaking, particularly relief prints in black and white, provide a stark and often suggestive means of giving visual voice to that exploration.”
