The Curator Presents: “Quaker Farmer” Ceramics
Join Rockwood’s new Curator, Kristen Matulewicz, for a special exploration of a museum treasure steeped in legend. In 2022 Rockwood returned to its collection what is believed to be the largest known “Quaker Farmer” Chinese export service. Totaling over 50 pieces, this set once belonged to Elizabeth Jefferis, sister-in-law to Joseph Shipley, builder of Rockwood. During this 1-hour presentation Kristen will lead an investigation into the legendary story of the service’s origins, controversies, and provenance. Tea and coffee will be offered, and the museum will be open 1 hour prior to the program.
