"Coastal Forms and Light": Works by Barry Koplowitz
“I grew up less than 100 yards from the Brighton Beach/Coney Island Boardwalk. I roamed that 2.5mile beach all year long, regardless of sun or snow. The first painting I ever sold was a Plein Air piece painted while standing on the sand. The body of work in this exhibition brings together decades of painting and teaching, and brings it right back to my first inspiration. It shows what the beach has created within me. Most of the work in this exhibition is of the Sussex County coastline. While my work does sometimes include figurative components—the interaction between the rocks, sand, ocean and sky—is my primary focus.”
