Timothy Barr - A Solo Exhibition
Contemporary American Luminist, Timothy Barr will be showing new works in a solo exhibition at the Somerville Manning Gallery from September 13 – October 5, 2024.
Timothy Barr finds great inspiration in the landscape and serenity of rural America. His intimate paintings of stone walled farmhouses, centuries-old trees and domestic scenes embody the solitude and grandeur of pastoral life. Barr paints with a heightened sense of the relationship between color and light, infusing natural images with a serene and meditative radiance. By applying many thin transparent layers of paints, usually put down wet over dry, Barr achieves complex color and lighting effects within the images.
Timothy Barr attended Pennsylvania Governors School for the Arts and the Tyler School of Fine Art at Temple University. He graduated with a degree in Fine Arts (BFA) from Tyler School in Philadelphia. His work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, including the Susquehanna Art Museum in Harrisburg, PA; the Reading Public Museum in Reading, PA; Hunter Museum of American Art in Chattanooga, TN; the Mennello Museum of American Art in Orlando, FL; and the Fenimore Art Museum in Cooperstown, NY
