Old State House Concert Series

     On Friday, January 10, 2025, Delaware Friends of Folk will present the next event in their 2024-25 Old State House concert series, inside the Old State House on The Green in Dover. This is the eleventh season in the series which is produced in cooperation with the Delaware Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs and First State National Heritage Park and is supported by a generous grant from the Kent County Fund for the Arts. The one-hour performance will begin at 7:30 pm. The concert is free and open to the public. Seating is limited.

     The featured act this month is the New Castle County based Red Smith and Blue Dawn. They are an acoustic string band known for their captivating blend of folk, bluegrass, and Americana music. Formed in January 2024 the band features a lineup of skilled musicians who bring together a rich mix of traditional and original tunes. Their sound is characterized by lively mandolin and intricate dobro leads, held down by steady guitar and bass grooves with modern sensibilities. The band’s repertoire includes a variety of genres, from upbeat, foot-stomping bluegrass to soulful ballads and everything in between. Their performances are celebrated for their high energy, tight arrangements, engaging lyrics and storytelling. Red Smith and Blue Dawn have built a strong following through their energetic live shows and have been featured at numerous festivals and local venues, steadily gaining recognition for their authentic sound and dynamic stage presence.

     The Old State House concert series is presented by Delaware Friends of Folk. These events are supported by a grant from the Kent County Fund for the Arts, an organization that aims to enhance the quality of life, educate, and broaden perspectives by supporting the arts and arts organizations in Kent County. Support is also provided by the First State National Heritage Park, a partnership of State and City agencies under the leadership of Delaware State Parks and the Delaware Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs. Delaware Friends of Folk are partially supported by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
