Steven Patchel is originally from Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, and has directed liturgical music programs for congregations in Delaware, Ohio, and Massachusetts. He has performed organ recitals in the U.S. at Princeton University Chapel, St. Thomas Church Fifth Avenue, Cathedral of St. John the Divine, Longwood Gardens Ballroom, and in Great Britain at the Kelvingrove Museum, Glasgow and St. Paul’s Cathedral, London. He is also a frequent accompanist for choirs and chamber musicians, including the Center City Chorale of Wilmington, Delaware. Mr. Patchel is currently the organist/choir director at St. Peters Church in the Great Valley, in Malvern, PA. Previous positions include many years as Music Director at Immanuel Highlands Episcopal Church in Wilmington, DE.
Steven began organ studies at St. John’s Cathedral in Wilmington and received degrees from the Oberlin College Conservatory and New England Conservatory. He studied organ with William Porter, David Boe, Garth Peacock, harpsichord with Lisa Goode Crawford, and choral conducting with Daniel Moe and Donald Teeters. He is active in the American Guild of Organists and enjoys teaching piano and organ students of all ages.
