DEFY GRAVITY WITH THE EFFERVESCENT FIRST CHAPTER OF THE MEGA-HIT MUSICAL
You’ve heard the songs, you might have even been to the show, but you’ve never seen WICKED like this. After over 20 years as one of the greatest musicals to ever grace the stage, the spectacular tale of witches, wizards, and more flying monkeys than you can shake a ruby slipper at is finally making its way to the big screen.
Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo, HARRIET, Broadway’s The Color Purple) isn’t like the other students at Shiz University. She’s studious, standoffish, and she has something very rare – actual magic! She’s also green, which does tend to stand out. Her roommate, Glinda (Ariana Grande), is basically her polar opposite, and the two get off to an explosive start. Soon though, that animosity turns into a powerful, profound friendship that would carry them all the way to the Emerald City to shake the very foundations of Oz, as well as the man behind the curtain…
It’s hard to imagine a more perfect big-screen rendition of WICKED’s first chapter. You’ve got Emmy, Grammy, and Tony-winning powerhouse Cynthia Erivo defying gravity as Elphaba; Grammy-winning, multi- platinum superstar Ariana Grande as the always popular Glinda; and even the incomparable Jeff Goldblum as the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The songs have never been bigger, the world more magical, and the story more enchanting. You might not be actually able to fly, but you’ll certainly feel like it by the end.
