Longings – Rick Barrantes Agüero & Friends
This program explores longing from the perspective of four underrepresented composers through the diverse sounds and colors of the bassoon. It will contain the following pieces: Longing for unaccompanied bassoon by Indian-American composer Pranav Ranjit (b. 2000), Ghost Dance for unaccompanied bassoon by American composer Ann K. Gebuhr (b. 1954), Duo Sonata for two bassoons by Soviet-Russian composer Sofia Gubaidulina (b. 1931), and Bayou Home for bassoon and piano by Afro-American composer William Grant Still (1895-1978).
