Jane the Quene: A Dramatic Song Cycle about England's Nine Days Queen
Jane the Quene is a song cycle for voice and piano written by husband-and-wife team, Jonathan Fox Powers (composer and pianist) and Paige Cutrona (lyrics and soprano). It details the life and reign of Lady Jane Grey, commonly known as The Nine Days Queen, who was Queen of England in 1553 and executed for ambiguous charges of treason in 1554. We illustrate the triumph and turmoil of her short reign as well as the last several months of her life, while weaving together historically researched text with haunting musical themes. Meet the Tudor Queen you’ve never heard of, Queen Jane Grey.
