'Spring Reflections' with The Serafins
The Arts at Trinity will present the brilliant players of The Serafin Ensemble in 'Spring Reflections,' a concert of chamber music classics on Sunday, April 6, at 4 p.m., in Trinity Episcopal Church, 1108 N. Adams St., Wilmington. Admission is free.
This program by Serafin roster artists features Hal Grossman in a short, evocative work for solo violin, When Our Home is Gone, by Noam Faingold, composer-in-residence with Washington Musica Viva in the nation’s capital. Mr. Faingold’s music has been widely praised, including notices by The New York Times and the BBC.
Performing Beethoven’s ground-breaking Piano Trio in E Flat Major (Op. 1, No. 1) will be New Zealand pianist Read Gainsford with violinist Kate Ransom (Serafin’s artistic director) and cellist Guang Wang, also a member of the acclaimed Vega Quartet. The trio’s suave, witty, bright and vivacious character makes it a perfect offering for a spring afternoon.
Closing the program will be French composer Gabriel Fauré’s elegant and lushly romantic Piano Quartet No. 2 in G minor (1887), featuring Mr. Gainsford, Mr. Grossman, Mr. Wang and violist Amadi Azikiwe.
“The Arts at Trinity is pleased to offer our concerts free of charge, and is grateful to audience members for their voluntary donations,” said David Simmons, Trinity Parish’s music director. The public is invited to enjoy light fare and hot/cold beverages before and after the concert.
Trinity Church is wheelchair accessible, with designated parking spaces, access ramps on either side of the church complex, and an outdoor elevator. Free parking is available adjacent to the church on N. Adams Street and in the church parking lot on W. 11th Street.
