“Cooch’s Bridge: The Battle”
Jazz quintet The Whitney Project will premiere “Cooch’s Bridge: The Battle” on Friday, June 6 at 7:30 pm at the Episcopal Church of Saints Andrew and Matthew in Wilmington. An encore performance will follow on Sunday, June 8 at 4:00 pm at Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church in Lewes.
Both concerts are produced and presented by the Friends of Cooch’ Bridge Historic Site. Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $25 per person. Concert-goers should go here to preregister. Every gift will automatically enroll the registrant as a Founding Friend.
Both performances of “Cooch’s Bridge: The Battle,” composed for pipe organ and percussion, will feature organist David Christopher and percussionists Carl Barone, I-Jeng Fang and Jonathan W. Whitney.
The Friday performance will also feature a pre-concert conversation between Austin Chanu, former assistant conductor of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and composer Jonathan W. Whitney. The pre-concert conversation begins at 6:45 pm.
The encore performance at Saint Peter’s in Lewes will be held in conjunction with the St. Cecilia Guild.

The Episcopal Church of Saints Andrew and Matthew is located at 719 Shipley St. in Wilmington.
Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church is located at 211 Mulberry St. in Lewes.
