This class is about how to properly optimize your images for web and email use. Properly optimized images make it so that you are not filling up your recipients inbox with huge jpegs, and you are not clogging your own website with massive jpeg files, which affects page load speeds, ending up with very frustrated potential customers.
Even if you are using your phone for photos of your art, those files can be huge these days and you must learn how to optimize (rez them down - make them smaller) for web use.
We will go over optimizing images on desktop in photoshop, photopea, gimp, Canva, and/or other software that the students are using. We will also cover optimizing images on your phone. A survey will be sent out to students in advance to find out what they are using for image editing to make sure we cover that software.
If you are not using any image editing software, Christina will suggest the easiest ones to start with from a free plan up to paid plans and show you how to use them to properly optimize your images for the web.
Christina will have a presentation that will be broadcasted on the NAA TV in the classroom. She will also share that presentation in PDF form with all the students so they can refer back to materials when they need it along with a handout in class.
This is an in-person class at the Newark Arts Alliance.
