Whimsical Masterpieces: Creative Empowerment with Pastels
Join us for a fun, engaging, and empowering artistic experience for adults 55+ who would like to investigate their creative potential while building a basic level of mastery using oil pastels.
This eight-week program introduces participants to the world of oil pastels in a supportive and stimulating environment. Through weekly 90-minute sessions, participants will learn blending, texturing, composition, and finishing techniques. Under the guidance of professional artist John Donato they will craft their own original work while exploring storytelling and abstraction. Participants also will connect with a creative community and gain access to ongoing support via an online group. All materials are provided.
At the conclusion of the series, participants will showcase their completed artwork during a celebratory library event, featuring a public exhibition of their work. The pieces will remain on display and be shared on both the library and teaching artist’s website and/or social media. During a reception, guests can engage with the artists, provide feedback, and enjoy refreshments and music in a lively atmosphere.
Class size is limited to 12 people age 55+. Registration is required. Participants are expected to attend all 8 sessions.
This program is funded by the Delaware Division of the Arts as a part of its Access Creative Aging program, a community-based arts education program designed for adults ages 55+.
