Judith Blam: An Iconic Wilmington Artist
This Retrospective of Judith Blam [1911-2008], is presented by daughter, Naomi Clark, of Arden. Blam was a professional textile designer in New York before settling in Wilmington. Once there, whilst under the tutelage of Ed Loper Sr., they became great friends and frequently painted en plein aire about the city. Her own distinct style flourished in many mediums including oil, watercolor, mixed media, pastel, & printmaking. Her experience in textiles is reflected in much of this work, as she redesigned what she found in nature, placing emphasis on prismatic planes of light which can appear to shift through variation of color. This also applied to the beauty she saw in various neighborhoods of the city of Wilmington. Join us for this unique retrospective being presented for the 1st time in ~20 years. On view by appt after Reception April 4th 5:30-8PM.
