The Creative Writing Center of Delaware is dedicated to promoting the arts of creative writing and publishing by conducting workshops, courses and conferences. The Center also provides an opportunity for novice and experienced writers to learn from each other and from established professionals. The Center will sponsor public literary readings at Delaware Technical & Community College in Georgetown, Del. and in various locations throughout the state. It also will coordinate with other literary organizations on Delmarva to produce and promote an annual literary calendar of events. Membership in the Center provides access to the Writers' Sanctuary Space at Nassau Commons in Lewes. This space, which can accommodate eight to 10 people for classes, workshops, and critique groups, is equipped with writers' reference resources, copies of literary journals, a computer, a printer and an Internet connection. Volunteers, members of the Center who staff the space on a regular basis, receive credit toward courses offered by the Center. Classes will be held at the Sanctuary Space and on Delaware Tech's Owens Campus. Members of the Center also are granted access to an online Virtual Writing Studio where they can share work and conduct literary discussions.
