Lead Graffiti: An Exhibition of Letterpress & Book Arts
The Newark Arts Alliance has announced that the first art exhibit of 2025 in the NAA gallery will be ‘Lead Graffiti: An Exhibition of Letterpress & Book Art’ . The exhibit will open on December 31st and continue through January 18th. A reception, open to the public , for the Lead Graffiti duo will be held on Friday January 10th from 6 to 8 pm. In 2008, married couple, Ray Nichols & Jill Cypher undertook the formation of Lead Graffiti, a letterpress studio, with work focused on public causes, a love of words and typography, passing information forward and a general disregard for the normal rules of design. Their letterpress work is included in some 75 major collections of libraries and institutions along with exhibitions of their work at The British Museum, the Hamilton Wood Type Museum, and the American Institute of Graphic Arts. They have given dozens of talks to various student groups along with running a variety of in-house and online workshops related to letterpress and the production of artists books. This exhibition at the Newark Arts Alliance is an overview of their letterpress printing and book design projects over the past 25 years.
