Roots and Resilience: Stories of Strength and Spirit" Art Exhibition
CAMP Rehoboth is proud to announce the opening of "Roots and Resilience: Stories of Strength and Spirit," a dynamic juried exhibition celebrating the history, heritage, and creativity of communities of color. The exhibition will be on display at the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center, located at 37 Baltimore Avenue in Rehoboth Beach, from January 25 through March 28, 2025. An Opening Reception will take place on Saturday, January 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. This event is free and the public is invited to attend.
Coinciding with Black History Month and extending into Women’s History Month, "Roots and Resilience" weaves together powerful narratives of culture, resilience, and identity through the work of 15 talented artists. The exhibition features a variety of mediums, including oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings, photography, poetry, pyrography (woodburning), and ceramics, offering a rich tapestry of artistic expression that reflects the strength and spirit of diverse communities.
The exhibiting artists are The exhibiting artists are Bryant T Bell, Nicole Brooks , Valerie Boorks, S. Exum, Kiara Florez, Candy Fordjour Frimpong, Taylor Gordon, GUADJOSA, Sakreea Monay Jackson, Ann Martin , Carolina Mayorga, Amuri Morris, Chet'la Sebree, Coca Silveira , Crystal Stokowski, Winifred Way, and Shannon Woodloe.
The exhibition’s juror is the renowned Nataki Oliver, owner of The Sold Firm Art Gallery in Wilmington, Delaware. Since founding The Sold Firm in 2017, Oliver has been a driving force in promoting emerging and established artists across the tri-state area. Her curatorial work includes exhibitions at Bank of America, Delaware State University, and Historically Black College and University (HBCU) Week, showcasing a diverse range of artists and mediums.
Oliver’s commitment to creating spaces where artists can thrive and collectors can discover new and exciting works has made a significant impact on the Delaware art scene. Known for her keen eye and ability to spot emerging talent, she has helped launch the careers of many artists. Her dedication to amplifying underrepresented voices aligns perfectly with CAMP Rehoboth’s mission to foster a vibrant and inclusive art community.
CAMP Rehoboth is honored to have Oliver serve as the juror for "Roots and Resilience." Her insights and expertise will bring a unique perspective to the exhibition, and she will be present at the Opening Reception to share her comments on the selection process and discuss the works on display.
Through this exhibition, CAMP Rehoboth seeks to inspire, elevate marginalized voices, and promote understanding across the community. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the featured artists, engage with their stories, and experience the transformative power of art.
