Flower Impressions - 3 weeks
Flowers die too quickly. But what if the life of a bouquet or your garden could be extended? This three-part workshop with Emily Abrams offers creative and economical techniques for preserving the beauty of fresh flowers.
Week 1: Pounded Petal Note Cards
Release the natural pigments out of petals and leaves by delicately pounding flowers on watercolor paper. Four greeting cards and envelopes will be provided to each guest.
Week 2: Cyanotype (Sun-Printing)*
Use pressed flowers to create two 5x7 art prints on watercolor paper, and a print on one cotton tea towel.
Week 3: Pressed Flower Garden Quote with 11 x 14 mat and sleeve
We'll discuss different techniques for drying and pressing flowers. You'll compose your own piece of art using a beloved quote, sacred mantra, or short poem. Pressed flowers and leaves will be provided.
All materials will be provided, but guests are also encouraged to bring:
Fresh blooms or leaves from a bouquet or their garden
Heavy book that can be used to press flowers
Meaningful quote, mantra, lyric, or short poem for the Session #1 Pressed Flower Garden Quote session
Age 16+. Younger kids welcome with parent. Parent is free unless they are also participating.
* Please note; The order of sessions may be switched due to weather, the cyanotype requires a sunny day.
