Rediscover Victorian literature through the dramatic themes of Empire, Race, Gender and Exploration with Rockwood staff. The Victorians loved their books and many iconic publications of this time are still relevant today. Bring dinner or snacks to this round table discussion. All ages welcome.

Sept – Stephen N. Cobham & Rupert Grey: Tale of Black and White: A story that explores the intertwined lives of a freed Black man and a white colonial official in the Caribbean, navigating race, loyalty, and identity in a world shaped by slavery and resistance.

Oct – Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein: The classic story of a scientist who creates a living being from dead matter, only to face tragic consequences as his creation seeks love, revenge, and understanding in a world that rejects him.

Nov – Oscar Wilde’s Importance of Being Earnest: In this witty satire, two men adopt false identities to escape social obligations, only to find themselves tangled in romantic and comedic chaos that exposes Victorian hypocrisy
