Ocean Paintings by Theo Platt
Somerville Manning Gallery presents a series of ocean paintings by Theo Platt, on view from September 12 – October 11, 2025.
Platt’s large scale ocean paintings flow between abstract intimacy and distant realism revealing a breathtaking interplay that gives the viewer the impression of movement. The artist’s use of extremely heavy impasto creates a textured tapestry where the sea comes to life in a vibrant display of color and texture. Platt’s paintings, drawn from vacation memories and affection for the sea, exude drama and a sense of tranquility.
Theo is a graduate of St. Martin's School of Art in London; it was here that he began his Oceans series of works which have evolved continuously since his first two large pieces were shown and sold in his degree show.
