Book Talk: Allies for Justice
Please join the Delaware Historical Society and Huxley & Hiro Booksellers as we welcome author Kathleen Marie Doyle to discuss her book Allies for Justice: How Louis Redding and Collins Seitz Changed the Complexions of America’s Schools.
Almost two centuries after the Declaration of Independence affirmed that all men are created equal, the laws of the land – especially those governing America’s school system – implied the opposite. Many people are familiar with Brown v. Board of Education, but few people are aware of the powerful role that two extraordinary Delawareans played in that historical decision. Without Louis Redding and Collins Seitz, the Brown decision may have turned out very differently.
A book signing and refreshments will follow.
