The Department of Theatre and Dance proudly presents Jazzy Nut! — a dazzling, toe-tapping twist on the holiday classic, live on stage December 5 & 6, 2025.
Inspired by Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn’s legendary 1960 jazz interpretation of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite, this high-energy production sets the story in the heart of New Orleans at the height of the Jazz Age. Follow Lena and her friends as they jump, jive, and slide their way through a sweet, spirited adventure packed with rhythm, style, and holiday magic.
Featuring UD’s talented dance students alongside the swinging sounds of the UD Jazz Ensemble, Jazzy Nut! is a fresh, festive celebration sure to thrill audiences of all ages.
