Last Look with Biggs Executive Director: Battle of the Bands
Join us for Battle of the Bands: Last Look, the culminating event for the Biggs Museum’s feature HBCU Bands exhibition. Hosted by Biggs Director Hassan Najjar, this program invites attendees to reflect on the exhibition’s impact during its four-month run, engage in conversation about the artwork, and participate in an open Q&A. Guests will gain deeper insight into the stories, culture, and legacy behind HBCU bands and the dynamic works featured in the show. Artist Keith Duncan, whose Battle of the Bands series anchors the exhibition, will join Director Najjar for this closing conversation. A New Orleans–based contemporary figurative artist and educator, Duncan is known for his rich narrative style rooted in personal history, Black culture, and community storytelling. His series celebrates fifteen Southern HBCU marching bands through large-scale fabric paintings, human-scale portraits, and works on paper, created through his distinctive layering of acrylic, marker, textiles, collage, and patterned materials. Pre-registration suggested, children 12 and under free admission.
