Lidded Vessels: Advanced Wheel Throwing

Description: Take your wheel-throwing skills to the next level as you learn how to create a fully functioning lidded jar from start to finish. This class focuses on advanced, jar-specific techniques. You’ll learn how to form galleries and flanges, use calipers for precise measurements, and trim both the lid and body so they fit together seamlessly. You’ll also explore different approaches to designing and attaching knobs, plus glazing considerations unique to lidded forms. By the end, you’ll have crafted your own small wheel-thrown jar and gained the confidence and technical knowledge to continue creating well-fitted lidded pieces on your own.

*Students must know how to center and pull in order to take this class.
