The Writer's Room and the Troupe
The Lewes Public Library Spoken Word Society presents The Writer’s Room and The Troupe, a program for High School and College writers and actors. During a 5-week intensive which runs January 24–February 21, young writers and actors work together to create and develop performance pieces specifically for actors in The Troupe. The series ends with a public performance on February 28.
With guidance provided by Dr. Anne Colwell, professional author and University of Delaware professor, and Sadie Andros, professional actor and director of Cape Henlopen High School's Theatre Program, participants start from scratch in January and work together to prepare original pieces, which will be performed for the public on Saturday, February 28.
This unique program is a wonderful opportunity for the creative writer and the actor to develop skills vital to the working professional, including writing for a specific performer, working under a deadline, and preparing material specifically intended to be heard in the public sphere.
Registration is required.
