Old State House concert series
On Friday, March 13, 2026, Delaware Friends of Folk will present the final event in their 2025-26 Old State House concert series, inside the Old State House on The Green in Dover. This is the twelfth season in the series which is produced in cooperation with the Delaware Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs and First State National Heritage Park and is supported by a generous grant from the Kent County Fund for the Arts. The one-hour performance will begin at 7:30 pm. The concert is free and open to the public. Seating is limited.
The featured act this month is the Joe Baione Vibraphone Experienced. Joe Baione is a powerhouse vibraphonist whose high-energy performances and soulful compositions make a lasting mark on the jazz world. Deeply rooted in the straight-ahead tradition yet infused with modern flair, Baione leads The Joe Baione Vibraphone Experience with passion, precision, and personality. His latest release, Vibe Check (2024), was played on over 75 radio stations worldwide and spent more than two months on the JazzWeek Chart Bound list.
Baione’s musical foundation was shaped by two key mentors: his late father, James Baione—a gifted clarinetist, saxophonist, educator, and composer—and the legendary Benny Golson, who offered guidance, encouragement, and friendship until his passing. Their influence echoes in Joe’s playing, which blends technical command with heartfelt storytelling. A former music educator of 27 years, Joe has performed at top venues and festivals including Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Kimmel Center, the Rochester International Jazz Festival, and the Trinidad & Tobago Jazz Festival. He has shared the stage with jazz greats like Lionel Hampton, Steve Turre, and Shirley Scott, and opened for legends such as Dave Brubeck, Freddie Cole, and Monty Alexander.
The Old State House concert series is presented by Delaware Friends of Folk. These events are supported by a grant from the Kent County Fund for the Arts, an organization that aims to enhance the quality of life, educate, and broaden perspectives by supporting the arts and arts organizations in Kent County. Support is also provided by the First State National Heritage Park, a partnership of State and City agencies under the leadership of Delaware State Parks and the Delaware Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs. Delaware Friends of Folk are partially supported by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.
