Tiger Lily Trio, Faculty Ensemble

Join the Tiger Lily Trio for a program of contemporary music by four American composers, including Florence Price, Amanda Harberg, Lowell Liebermann, and Cynthia Folio. The Tiger Lily Trio proudly champions the music of American underrepresented composers. The ensemble is particularly excited to present the recently discovered work Moods by African-American composer Florence Price, which explores a wide range of emotions in three distinct movements. Western Winds, Eastern Roots holds a particularly special place on this program, as Tiger Lily Trio commissioned Cynthia Folio to write this work for premiere in 2023 with a forthcoming commercial recording on Navona Records. Performers include Eileen Grycky, flute; Christopher Nichols, clarinet; and Christine Delbeau, piano.

Tiger Lily Trio is a faculty-ensemble-in residence at the University of Delaware School

of Music. Its members include Eileen Grycky, flute, Christopher Nichols, clarinet, and

Marie-Christine Delbeau, piano. The trio’s performances of contemporary literature by

living composers have garnered it invitations to appear throughout North America and

Europe at the 2021 National Flute Association Convention (virtual), the 2017 National

Association of Collegiate Wind and Percussion Instructors Conference in Vancouver,

and the Victoria International Arts Festival in Gozo, Malta. It is dedicated to performing

the music of marginalized composers and active in commissioning new works for the

medium. Recent commissions include trios by Jennifer Margaret Barker, Anthony

O’Toole, Roger Zare and Cynthia Folio.
