Bus Trip - Baltimore Museum of Art - Amy Sherald: American Sublime
Join us for a day trip to the Baltimore to explore the Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA)’s special exhibition, “Amy Sherald: American Sublime.” The exhibition, on display through April 5, showcases 38 paintings created from 2007 to the present, telling the story of Sherald’s vision and practice from her early, rarely seen works to her iconic, larger-than-life portraits of Black Americans, including the National Portrait Gallery’s official portrait of former First Lady Michelle Obama.
In addition to this special exhibition, on view in the galleries are modern art masterpieces from the internationally renowned Cone Collection, over 1,000 artworks from Native North America, works from more than 200 African states and societies, and a collection of 15th- through 19th-century European art including Medieval and Renaissance works. Weather permitting, the nearly three-acre Sculpture Gardens will also be open.
You will have about 3 ½ hours to explore the museum and get lunch on your own. Entry to “Amy Sherald: American Sublime” is ticketed, and our group’s entry time is 11:30am. Lunch can be purchased on site at Gertrude’s Chesapeake Kitchen – reservations are required for dining; carry-out is available. Additional dining options can be found within walking distance of the museum.
Advance ticket purchase is required. The Jolly Trolley Charter bus will leave at 8:00 am sharp from the Rehoboth Beach Fresh Market parking lot, with check-in beginning at 7:45 am. The bus will begin its return trip to Rehoboth at 3:00 pm, with arrival expected by 6:00 pm. Please be advised that any cancellations after March 13th cannot be refunded.
