Caribbean King - A Play Reading and Talkback
Join Delaware Shakespeare for an exciting exploration of a new play. Written by AZ Espinoza (Director of Del Shakes' Summer Fest Macbeth 2023), Caribbean King takes inspiration from Shakespeare's King Lear to create a modern twist. Cord returns to the Caribbean island of his birth as it transitions out of the Commonwealth and into political independence. Standing in his way are his father who is the island's last colonially appointed governor general, and a catastrophic hurricane barreling towards the island. After the play reading, stick around to hear from the playwright, director and performers about this original play with found family and queer community building at the eye of its storm.
