An American Son Art Exhibition and Special Programs

As part of National Poetry Month, An American Son expands beyond the painted surface through two public programs rooted in language, memory, and reflection. Across painting, text, and symbol, Oscar Eduardo de Paz’s practice explores the emotional, social, and historical textures of life in America. These events invite audiences to engage the exhibition not only as viewers, but as readers, listeners, and participants.

Poetry Showcase

Join us for an evening of poetry in dialogue with An American Son, Oscar Eduardo de Paz’s exhibition exploring memory, identity, inheritance, and the pressures of American life. Rooted in the same poetic symbolic language that shapes his visual practice, this showcase opens space for reflection, voice, and shared experience. In the spirit of National Poetry Month, the event extends the exhibition’s world beyond the canvas, inviting language to stand alongside image as another way of witnessing, remembering, and naming what often goes unspoken.

Coffee Hour / Artist Talk / Ekphrastic Poetry Workshop

Spend an afternoon inside An American Son through conversation, close looking, and writing. Beginning with coffee and an artist talk by Oscar Eduardo de Paz, this program invites participants into the ideas, symbols, and lived experiences that shape his practice. The event will culminate in an ekphrastic poetry workshop, where participants will respond to the exhibition through their own writing. In connection with National Poetry Month, this gathering creates space to consider how visual art and poetry can both carry memory, question history, and give form to what is deeply felt but not always easily said.
