Queering Delaware History
Join historian Carolanne Deal for this educational presentation that will explore stories of the state’s earliest queer history, from the 1880s to the 1980s. Carolanne will share their research findings including gender non-conforming people from the turn of the century, pioneering lesbian activists, queer civil rights and more.
Carolanne Deal (she/they) is a museum professional and Delaware queer historian. They are the creator of @DelawareQueerHistory on Instagram and were the lead researcher on the state’s pioneering LGBTQ+ History of Delaware Research & Digital Engagement Project. With a background in Art History and Museum Studies, her public history work aims to uplift underrepresented histories.
