Glazing can feel like the most unpredictable part of the ceramic process, but it doesn’t have to be! In this focused workshop, students will demystify glazing and gain practical skills for confidently finishing their bisque-fired pieces. We’ll break down the different types of glazes available, how they function, and when to use each one. Special attention will be given to brushing glazes, underglazes, and Stroke & Coat applications. Participants will learn proper application techniques, how to build and layer color effectively, and how to reduce the risk of glazes running onto the kiln shelf. We’ll also cover essential materials, tools, and insider tips to make the glazing process smoother and more predictable. By the end of the session, students will leave with a clearer understanding of surface finishing and the confidence to approach glazing with intention rather than guesswork.
*All materials included. For students who have completed a beginner course.
