Perfect for all skill levels, this class explores the art of negative painting, a technique that focuses on painting around shapes rather than filling them in. Students will begin by layering color with stencils to build a vibrant foundation, then use intentional brushwork to define forms by developing the surrounding negative space. As the composition evolves, you’ll gain a fresh understanding of shape, contrast, depth, and visual balance. By the end of class, each student will leave with a finished, dynamic painting and a powerful new way of seeing and constructing imagery on the canvas.
*All materials included.
